Hello all,
I signed up to test the Linksys RTP300 router and I can't get the damn thing to work. I have lousy cell service at home (hence Vonage) and i am having a hard time. I call from the cell phone and i get the techie in India. They can't seem to find the information that I am testing a different adapter. I get a Vonage error page when i try to register the device and I cannot seem to get there

Has anyone else tried this damn thing? I can't stop rambling on I am so mad!!!

I can't help you with your problem, I am sorry.

But I just wanted to point out a misconception on your part: All of Vonage's customer service is based in New Jersey right now. There is noone from India. Were you calling Linksys?

and for a misconception on your part, intial tech support/customer service, tier 1, whatever, is in india.
ton24: how did you get this in the first place? is it a Vonage adapter or just a router?

It seems the India issue isn't as cut and dry as I thought:

I have it on good authority that their call center is in New Jersey. They don't speak English there anyway

they are located in edision NJ, they are moving to a new building some were in NJ. The reason why there is alot of indians there is if anyone knows new jersey, the city next to Edison is Islin NJ, it has the highest indian popluation in the world, next to India itself..

I've done some digging and have been unable to find a definitive answer one way or another.

ton24: What does the Vonage error page say? If you are trying to register the device, I assume you bought it from some sort of retail outlet? Is it branded (and programmed) for Vonage service? Only Vonage adapters can be used with Vonage service.

Trust me, we don't like India tech suport either. The good news is that its only Installations. Us service guys are still in the USA

I guess that would mean standard tier-1, non-installation related support is directed to non-Indian sources.

But I was also looking for a story that mentions Vonage's overseas provider (Wipro, Tata, etc.), something coming from an outside source that would definitively answer the question. But I suppose jdr30's quote up there clears it up quite a bit.

I just got the RTP300 from Vonage... does anyone know what the logon is for the setup page in the RTP300?

I don't want to hook it up until I've review the security settings on it.

Thanks,

Gerhard

(It's not the standard Linksys 'admin' password...)

The standard Linksys "admin" password worked for my RTP300.

I can't logon to the admin page of the RTP300 in order to check the firewall settings, etc...

I've been using a blank ID with "admin" as the password.

Granted, this is only a beta, but a manual would have been nice.
