After having just received my Vonage telephone adapter, I was apalled to find that the power adapter is for 110v only. A huge, huge, benefit of having Vonage as an American overseas is that I now have a US number my family and friends can call. I know there are a lot of other benefits for international use as well and a 110 only power supply makes no sense at all.
In fact, I can't imagine that ANY electronic device would come with a 110v only supply! |

I don't think that they specifically market for overseas use even though you can use it. Its not unusual for ANY electronic device to not have a power supply for overseas. Goto Radio Shack and buy a transformer |

I purchased my Vonage Retail Pack PAP2 and found it to have an autoswitching AC adapter.
As for anyone requiring any US electrical device to work in a 220/240v environment, the best bet is to wait until you are in a country with a 220/240v electric service and find the nearest electrical / electronics store and buy one there, as there is a greater market for US imported goods than there is a market for travellers to individual territories from the US.
Link to US (110v, 60Hz) to UK (220/240v, 50 Hz) AC transformers
For a trip to the UK, T2 is what became of Radio Shack after it closed all of it's "Tandy" stores there. |

I'm very familiar with purchasing electronic equipment for use in an overseas environment as I have lived internationally for 11 years. My experience has shown that is it quite unusual for electronic devices of some level of portability not to accept a range of input from 110 to 220. Everything from my portable DVD player, notebook power adapter, to an ISDN router purchased years ago have all had universal power supplies. It's not complicated technology and it only makes sense to have power adapters that only require a plug adapter so that the purchase of an additional "universal" power supply is not necessary.
No matter what the marketing strategy of Vonage, they and Linksys apparently are quite aware of the international market, as even the "Quick Start" guide covers various technical details of using the unit in Israel, Singapore, etc. etc.
Anyhow, bottom line is that there is really no drawbacks to providing 110/220 adapters, only benefits. |

I've found a source for exactly what we need! They're normal power supplies with US plugs, that can take any worldwide current with only an adapter. No Radio Shack junk needed (with my apologies to Radio Shack, et. al.)
The only thing that I needs to be done on these is to change out a couple of components to give output of 12v, 60hz, 1A, 23 W. It's not a tough swap, but should be done by a pro.
I'm thinking of starting a business -- though this is obviously a fairly small market |

Well, I'm here to help if I can! Perhaps I should undertake a bit of a market study. |
