Has anyone tried putting ",#019" without the quotes in the dialing prefix to slow down the modem ? Read it on another forum - gonna try it when I get home. |

Actually, ",#034" works as well and sometimes better with my DTiVOs. (I also use *99 as a call waiting prefix to put the ATA in fax mode.)
One of my DTiVos seems to like the 19 and the other the 34.
Of course it does not work with the series 2s or the new DTiVos as thos modems do not seem to accept those codes.
I have 95% sucess with the regular call on both my TiVos and abput 70% on the monthly DTV call. (It seems that the TiVo call uses the dial prefix but the DTV call only seems to use the call waiting prefix)
Before anyone trys it does NOT work to use ",#019" in the call waiting prefix as that is a modem code and the call waiting prefix is not used to set the modem. |

Call Waiting prefix for fax mode? Please explain! I have the second line for fax right now, but I don't send or receive that much. I felt i had to do it, though, because we don't have the option for ring master or distinctive ring right now. If I could save the $10 and have something else detect an incoming fax, that would be great.

From the unofficial Vonage FAQ:
=====================
This tip improves your sending of faxes to a very high level.
Dial *99 before sending the fax.
This will put your ATA into fax only mode.
E.g. faxing to 345 555 5555 you dial *99 1 345 555 5555 and the fax should go through like a charm.
======================
This, of course, has nothing to do with incomming faxes.
The ATAs fax only mode is only for the duration of the call involved. THe reason some of us with TIVos use the call waiting prefix for this is that it is the only field available for codes to always be dialed before the number TiVO calls. |

If you're trying to get your TiVo to work over Vonage, visit www.tivocommunity.com. There are a few solutions and alternative codes to try over there. |

May I ask why your using the modem on a Series 2? I just use a USB Ethernet and a USB Wireless on both of mine. Much better then worrying about it dialing out over Vonage and IF you are not afraid to open up your Series one drop a TurboNet card in it and have it go over ethernet also. Just my thought on the situation lol I figure you already have the broadband why not use it. |

Maybe because it is a series 2 DirectTV receiver with TiVo. The USB ports are not active on the DTiVos.
As far as I can tell no one in this thread said they are using a series 2 at all. All I said was that the codes do not work on those modems. |

Oh I forgot to add that the DTV call does not use the TUrbonet card,which I do use for my SA TiVos, and THAT call is the only one I am truly concerned with on my DTiVos as I like to be able to order PPV by remote and that is disabled without the DTV calls.
(Sorry about two posts but there does not seem to be an edit function for this board) |

Sorry guess i'm just used to the Tivo forums where everyone states DTivo lol, just kind of threw me. I have DirecTV but have not switched to DTivo because I refuse to hook my receivers up to the phone line. Not to mention the whole thing of no HMO on it. Oh well don't want to turn this into a Tivo discussion here:) Seems like many people have had spotty luck with Tivo, Replay and other things over all VoIP services. |
