Here's what I have:
from the phone port (I use the PAP2, but it doesn't matter), a typical phone cord goes into my Inline Patch (it's a box with phone ports and knobs to adjust all kinds of levels), and another typical phone cord comes out the other side of the Patch and into my phone.
From the back of the Patch comes a stereo audio cable (the size I can't remember, but it's the same as what plugs into the 'audio in' ports of your computer), through a $6 splitter from Radio Shack and into the 'audio in' port on the back of my iMac G5 (note: it's essentially the same deal for PC - I did this for years on my Dell).
Then I just make sure my computer knows that incoming audio is to come through the in-line port, and not some other source (like a sound card, external mic, or whatever), fire up Audacity (or whatever audio program you're recording with), and hit Record.
Again, to export to an mp3, I recommend using the 'Export to WAV' option, and then using YAAC to convert to mp3. I recently made an mp3 file directly with Audacity that was 16.9 MB; but the same file made as a WAV and converted with YAAC came to 8.9 MB.
I tell you, it's a piece of cake compared to decoding Voip packets or whatever... and, you can also take that same audio-in cable and plug it into the headphone jack of a stereo, and line-in any recordings you have on tape, vinyl, or whatever that you want digitized.
Good luck, binkyjoe |

You can edit the Speed By using Sony Sound Forge 8.0. by going to Tools --> Resample
and test the settings to resample it. 22,050 Hz I believe is the setting..
Other point.. I use a Cassette recorder for telephones from radioshack. and I push the record button. and have Sony Sound Forge open and recording at the same time.. and when the conversation is over you stop Sony Sound Forge recording and it's already digitalized all you have to do is save it a Voila.
now could someone go in depth on how to use TCPDUMP for recording?
Thanks.

If you have softphone and use an Asterisk PBX, you can have every call recorded and archived was WAV files, or even better, you can have it done "on-demand" by pressing a button like * to trigger when you want it to start/stop recording. |
