After a day of reading and researching I finally got my TIVO SonySVR 2000 to connect and make a daily call over my Vonage line. Here is the process: 1. Call Vonage tech Support and have them Flash your Linksys modem with the TIVO Firmware update 2. In TIVO Phone set-up select NYC area code "212" 3. Use the following Dial prefix: *99,,#019 (this tells your TIVO to dial as a fax machine and to use 19200 baud rate) 4. After the test call has been made and NYC dial-in numbers loaded, Select the NYC dial in number of: 212-277-3895. 5. DISABLE all devices using your broadband modem, no matter what they are! If they ping your broadband server for a packet, your TIVO call will drop. 6. Make your daily call. You should note that the call WILL NOT WORK EVERY TIME. It may take a few attempts (it took 3 here) but this solution worked for me. I use a Charter Cable modem, connected to my Airport Base station. I connected my linkSys to the LAN (ethernet) port on my Airport. Airport is configured to distribute IP addresses. My Linksys is configured to obtain an IP using DHCP. I hope this helps save some of you from the übergeek workarounds of buying $80 wireless or USB cards, routers and other configuration options that will cost you the $$ you saved when you got Vonage in the first place. I did everything you suggested and got it to connect long enough to download NY phone numbers. I have not been able to connect since and I tried all 4 NY phone numbers several times. Also Vonage technical support said to use *99,#109 instead of 2 commas. That was how I got it to connect the first time. I did try 2 commas as well. No success.
If anybody else has a suggestion I would appreciate it.

I finally got it to work. What I didn't understand was the *99 was the prefix for call-waiting and the ,,#019 was for the dialing prefix. Once I did that it worked. Thanks Dude.
P.S. don't give up trying as frustrating as it is. I almost bought Turbonet and I'm glad I waited. |
