All:

the power went out in my house yesterday foran hour and after that looks like my Vonage router has gone crazy.

I am not getting any dial tone, all I am getting are the two phone port lights blinkng after every 5s. I know I have internet connecticity as the ethernet light is blinking fast.

any help is very much appreciated

is the power light blinking?
try this reset:
unplug power, unplug phone cords, push and hold reset button, plug power back in while holding reset button, keep holding reset button for 15 seconds after powering back on. keep an eye on the power light, and don't plug the phones back in (or power the box off) until it stops blinking.

also, if that doesn't help, can you access the router's internal web page at http://192.168.15.1 ? it doesn't sound like you have any computers plugged into it. anyway, check what it shows for Line1 (or whatever line you use) under Status

Mine has been doing the same thing since Friday. I reset the router using the reset button in the back. When I connect to there router I have the message: Router still restarting. Please wait a moment. under the voice tab.

Its been this way for the last 3 days. I sent a email on Saturday and haven't heard anything.

I think there may be something wrong with the voice portion of the router. Too bad its locked down and we can't do anything with it. I'm going to call tech support when I get home. I'll post the results if we get anywhere.

My first Vonage RT31P2 had a similar sounding problem. Both phone lights blinked in unison every few seconds. Router still worked. No dial tone. However, this was during initial setup. It hadn't worked before like yours apparently did.

However, if the symptoms are from a similar cause, you may have to replace your box. I received a lot of the same advice about unplugging, powering off, powering on, wait and/or hold button for 15 seconds, etc, but in the end Vonage tech couldn't resolve and decided to replace it. I spoke with three different Vonage techs (not CSRs) and posted here in the Forum as well, but to no avail. Unfortunately, between the three of them, some of their proposed solutions were disputed by each other (i.e. the third and probably most correct of the three stated that the procedure advised by the first tech was totally wrong and he was incredulous that I could have received the instructions I did for testing my device!).

Hope your situation is truly different and that you find a less tedious solution. Sorry about your problem.

Well, after 2 hours on the phone last night with tech support they finally determined the problem was in the router and are shipping me a new one.

They had me hit the reset button on the back 2 or 3 times and cycle power to the router and the modem a half dozen more times.

If that doesn't fix the problem then your best bet is to put the time in on hold and have them send you another one. Sorry no miracle fix here.
