Folks:
Still having intermittent beeping on the Cisco -- sometimes on my end as well as theirs since the last firmware. Also noticing some spotty sound quality in the same period of time. Vonage wanted to trade me for the Moto a while back but I asked to wait until the problems being discussed here in the forum had stabalized. We don't have to reset the modem, ATA, etc., and the uninterrupted phone service was something we didn't want to lose.
Is it time to get brave and trade? I like the possibility of QOS, but if I have to bury it behind another router, I'll lose that, right? Anybody got stability with the MTA, then a router (or two) behind it to keep the DHCP going and no port forwarding?

I have had the Motorola MTA for about a month and a half now and love it.... The worst problem I have had is the stutter tone was not working (and now that is fixed) and sometimes I will hear a muting tone kicking in. It sounds like someone on the other end has pushed mute and you are hearing some reverb back on your end.
I have the MTA behind a Linksys/Network Everywhere router. I have also tried it in front of the router. I moved it simply because I didn't want anything to possibly happen to it if somone was trying to hack into it.
Turning on port forwarding with the Linksys/Network Everywhere router was easy to do, just follow the instructions and you're done!
Let me know if this helps your decission. |
