I have set up whole house system and vonage seems to be working fine (with the exception of a few dropped calls). I have my Sprint number forwarding to my virtual number. If and when the number finally ports this week, does it just switch over without problems? What are other's experiences with this. |

Once the transfer takes place, all calls will be received through the Vonage account. It's pretty much instantanious. |

It's seamless once you get over the fact that Vonage lies to you regarding the facts behind their ineptness in handling your number transfer. A theme you see over and over in these forums is claims from telephone companies that they not received the request for a transfer from Vonage event though the telephone companies face big fines for not transferring your number. I have been waiting four months and I have not received a reasonable explanation from Vonage on why the number has not been transferred. They blame the telephone companies; the telephone companies say they have no record of the requests. I believe my telephone company. All that and they have this smart ass named Keith that works for Vonage support that wouldn’t know good customer service if it bit him in the butt. Mr. Keith's attitude has actually made the experience worse and much more aggravating! |

My transfer took place today. I just made the request two weeks ago. I experienced about 30 minutes this morning where I could call out, but when people dialed the number that I was porting over they received a message that said "this call cannot be completed as dialed. Please try your call again later". I called Vonage and they checked a spreadsheet that showed the transfer was in process at that very moment and that I should be receiving calls within an hour. A few minutes later calls were working in both directions.
By the way, I have heard many complaints about waiting on hold for 30 or minutes. or more when calling customer service. I have called Vonage several times and have never waited on hold more than 5 minutes. |

I requested a number transfer in January and it still has not gone through. After repeated attempts to find out why it's taking so long, I finally got in touch with a competent customer service rep who tracked down the issue. My previous carrier, Cox, transferred my number to Qwest instead of XO. Apparently XO holds the number until Vonage can complete the transfer.
I agree that a lot of the blame for the lengthy wait time for number transfers rests with Vonage, but from my experience it seems like other carriers are to blame as well. |

The # transfer is seamless only if you've been in a cave for the last 10yrs! |
