I just received the adapter: Linksys RT31P2 today. Follow the instruction, hooked up. Voila ... everything worked .... but ...
My internet connection from my computer drop 10 times.
I have Charter Comm. with 3Meg download , now is only about 300K download with this new Linksys router.
Anybody encounter this kind of problem before.
Any advise to fix it , perhaps I missed out something?
Thanks in advance,
TLC

Well, I just called tech support with my Charter Comm. They claim that my area is current has some problem and they are trying to fixed it.
So, not because of vonage!!! Just happened co-incidently at the time I installed Vonage adapter.
Thanks anyways John,

I noticed that I had to set my upstream QoS (in the RT31P2 which is right after the SB5100 modem) value pretty high to still get reasonable speeds. I'm on Charter's 512/5M plan, and using one of Charter's local Web 100 NDT test sites while talking on the phone, I kept tweaking the QoS number until I got about 100Kbps difference between when the phone was in use versus the plain uploading test. (I use high bandwith which I believe supposed to be 90Kbps, thus why I looked to reserve about 100K for the phone.) What confused me was having to set QoS to 768 on the 512 plan to get about 400kbs upload when the phone was in use and a rock steady 1/2 meg up when the phone was hung up. With the QoS number at the detault value, I couldn't use the internet and talk at the same time. Now I can. Anyway, your mileage may vary. I really can't explain the results I saw. |
