You see, that's the idea - with calls being free - I may want to allow certain people to get call backs via modem or whatever, but only if it's in-network (ie free). This has nothing to do with incoming calls, this is to do with people inputting a phone number into a webpage.

Or you could just get the $25 plan, and all your calls are free.
Is your proposed software going to run from a softphone account? |

Nope, not planning on using the softphone.
I just signed up for the business 1500 which is all I need right now.

I just thought of an "API" to determine if a number belongs to Vonage, but it'd be a bit difficult to make a computer do it.
1. Dial *123. 2. Hit * to enter another mailbox. 3. Dial the 11-digit phone number.
If you enter a Vonage number, it will ask for the password. Otherwise, it will say it's invalid. |

Actually, that wouldn't be too difficult.
Using Linux I could capture the response to a file and analyse it againt the pre-recorded responses to determine if it is a Vonage number or not - Capture the first 5 seconds or so, strip off any leading silence and look for certain peaks. Hmmm...
Shame I have too much going on right now to work on it but I'll maybe take a look later in the week.
