I have been reading several threads regarding how other Vonage users have had success with Directv/Tivo calling via Vonage. I have tried every suggestion that I have seen on this site and no luck as of yet. I just had my new tivo installed yesterday and have tried about 50 times to dial in. I currently have the Vonage Cisco ata186 adapter and the samsung tivo. Anyone out there had any success with this combination of equipment?
I have a different combination, and have heard of other people having sucess, but I can't get my TiVo to call out, so I set up the PPP over serial connection. All you would need to get is the null modem cable from 9thtee.com.

Please excuse my ignorance. but in the serial connection what happens. does the tivo connect to the computer and then through your computer it connects to direct tv over your broadband internet connection? ....So if thats true I can connect the tivo to my laptop and since my laptop is wireless it will then connect to my broadband
That's correct, the DirecTV TiVo, connects to your computer via the serial connection, and then it uses whatever internet connection you have, wireless or wired, to call out to DirecTV. Connecting through your laptop would work.

There is another solution. The serial cable and external modem from weakness.com. Its worked like a champ with Callvantage for me and the Directv HD HR10-250
