Has anyone gotten their simul-ring to work?
I've tried and tried... even opened a ticket with Vonage tech support (hold times have been great lately).
Here's what happens:
I have 2 numbers in my simulring:
570-601-xxxx (another voip phone)
and
570-337-xxxx (a cell phone)
my voip phone from vonage is 570-606-xxxx
So.. when someone calls 570-606-xxxx it rings 570-601-xxxx but never touched 570-337-xxxx.
If I disable voicemail on my vonage account it does:
570-606-xxxx rings and rings the whole time.
Meanwhile 570-601-xxxx rings for about 15 seconds.
Then 570-337-xxxx rings and 570-601-xxxx stops ringing.... Vonage line ringing the whole while.
Any thoughts? |

I do have it working on my vonage line with 1 additional #...my cell phone. When I call, the Vonage number rings immediately, but it usually takes about an extra ring or so before the cell phone starts ringing too. Then they both ring until the cell phone goes to voice mail
I haven't tried it with 2 numbers configured. |

Actually, you have three phones on your simulring. The original phone that you initiated the simulring with at 570-606-xxxx, the secondary phone at 570-601-xxxx, and the cell at 570-337-xxxx.
The original phone that you initiated the simulring with is included in the simulring list, it's assumed. The other two are additional phones in the list. Unfortunately, at this time, the simulring allows only two phones. Always the original, and the top one on the list. Your cell phone is truncated from the list because the program is not yet set up to handle more than two phones.
I don't see where it is much more useful than the basic call forwarding. Except that the phones ring simultaneously. Sorry, to break it to you. It was a disappointment to me as well. I won't use the simulring because the program is incomplete. I set the basic to a 5 second ring before transferring to my cell. That way I am reminded if I come home and have forgotten to turn call forwarding off. I would really like to be able to activate and deactivate right at the phone rather than logging in to Vonage.

So how is this an improvement at ALL?!?! I was able to have 'simul-ring' before using basic call forwarding.... did it all the time.
And then why on earth would you release 5 fields?? Why not just truncate it to 1 field.. and then why on earth don't the techs know about this? |

I believe that it is an intended upgrade sometime in the future. As to the techs, perhaps their script books are out of date as well. I read this somewhere in a technical document. If I can find it, I'll post it.

As you can see, the knowledge base says 5 numbers. I can not find any info that says that only two will work. Vonage claims that your home phone plus up to 5 others will ring simultaneously and all calls forwarded to each phone.
Looks like I can't prove my statement at the moment folks. I'm going to test this on my own. I apologize if I have mislead you guy's. |

I have done a number of searches in all the Vonage data bases that exist to my knowledge. I have searched other VoIP forums. I ran a test with 4 simulring numbers in the queue. One to my ex-wife, one to the fax, one to my Church with instructions to the secretary to tell me if the secondary phone rings, and one to my cell sitting at my side.
My home phone rang and my ex-wife's phone rang. That's all folks! The fax, the Church, and the cell phone never rang. I may not have any documentation, but I have the physical proof. Simulring does not function as advertised. For me, it rang 2 phones. I wish I had that document. It's probably on this forum. However, the search function is difficult to run effectively at times.
Why do they publish a function that will simulring 5 phones plus your home phone? Vonage has a marked propensity for denying errors. See ya around.
