I am about to give up ever running my ftp server with Vonage.
Here's my config:
VT1005V Motorola
ISP optimum online surfboard modem------>wan port of vt1005v
phone out----------->wan dlink 10/100 fast ethernet switch
port 1 --------------->pc
port 2--------------->pc 2
My external ip 24 189 126 200
My internal ip 192 168 102 100
ports forwarded both tcp and udp 21----->192 168 102 100, 192 168 102 0, 192 168 102 101, 192 168 102 102, port 20----->192 168 102 100
DMZ is disabled
NAT enabled
I cannot get an ftp connection from the outside.
Phone works, internet works |

The Vonage server may not be, and probably isn't, programmed like a normal server. It is programmed for VoIP and not necessarily ftp on a known port. You can't even ping the thing. It's a special collection of devices and I doubt Vonage will release any information about it. |

Do you think the RP31P2 might resolve the issue? Vonage tech cannot see anything wrong with my configuration so I'm thinking the VT1005V is the problem. |

I don't think the RT31P2 will make a bit of difference. Remove it if you like. If you don't know the port number or it's DNS you will go nowhere. ftp.vonage.com is an assumption, you don't know what DNS is being used nor what port numbers are used. You can only be sure that they are different from a regular server. |

what are you talking about?
he can't run his own ftp server because the vt1000 is junk for anything but being a ta. it's definitely possible and likely the rt31p2 would work better. |

That is my understanding and worth the $90.00 investment. |
