I just tested 911 and they told me my address was NOT showing up! This is even though I received confirmation from Vonage about 911 being activated WITH my correct home address!!
I'm not happy about this...what if I can't speak in an emergency??? What can be done about this???

what can be done? let's see, besides reading the documentation and website and this forum, and realizing this is totally, completely and absolutely normal, I'm not sure. as many places as Vonage puts the information and the what, hundreds of posts in reference to 911 and it's still overlooked... |

Vonage uses your home address to find the non-emergency police number to route your call to. They could not be any more clear in saying that they do not have Enhanced 911 service.
If you're in Verizon territory, you may get E911 from Vonage within this calendar year. Otherwise, go back to your original phone company. Just don't act like its some gigantic surprise that you don't have E911. Do your homework! |

I believe you're confusing Caller ID with the call to your local PSAP which is NOT E-911. You should do a little reading as reebok suggests. E-911 is coming. However, E-911 is a function exclusive to your local PSTN. Negotiations are in progress to produce an interface between Vonage servers and the PSTN that have agreed to comply, but they will still not give away the secret of their 3 digit calling sequence so a special program must be devised. Be patient. Read more on this subject, there is no shortage of it. Where have you been? People have died because they did not read the material on this. |

LOL...Sorry Dan....but I tested 911 right before I had to walk out the door, and didn't think of researching it because I thought it was just my line, so I had no knowledge of any of that. I didn't know it was a major crime to ask a question that was already asked. And I also didn't know people had nothing better to do than reply to posts that personally aggravate them!
Whistle accepted...by me anyway! |

Christie,
You're right. I was a bit harsh on you. You didn't deserve it. Please accept my apology.
