I have had Vonage for about 5 days and love it.
I have also posted a site with a formal review of Vonage which can be found at:

It is good to see a forum for Vonage users!
I do have one question. I know Vonage is a private company but are there any investment options available?
I truly believe this is the wave of the future and I cannot believe how good Vonage sounds. I have a very good internet connection with 2Mb down and 384 up but with low latency times. It is very reliable and I can get perfect sound quality while downloading at around 1.83 Mb/s (with compression).
I do agree with some of the comments that following features would be a good bonus:
Caller ID with Call Waiting Display Names with Caller-ID More Area Codes Follow me (User prompted to hit a key to try the next number the person might be at) Call Blocking -- I mean the ability to block specific numbers not the unknown ones. Customizable Caller-ID -- I doubt they will add this but I would like to see an option where I can enter the name I want to show up with caller-ID. It should still show the real number but the name should be allowed to be customized. Directory Assistance -- Ability to call 411 to get directory assistance.
I am glad to be onboard and looking forward to talking with fellow users of Vonage.

IP is changing the world. The biggest impact to date is on the business world, but Vonage is a good example of the changes and capabilites moving into the home environment as well. It's still a fledgling technology for the home, though. Thus far, the ISP's have had it easy -- it's easy to deliver web and email services. It's going to get much harder for them as they have to deliver multi-media services such as voice (Vonage) and video. The newer networks have the capability (Qualtiy of Service, etc), but the ISP's haven't figured out how to offer that capability to their customers yet.
Today you might have multiple services coming into your house -- ie traditional phone, cable tv, satellite tv, internet, etc -- but eventually you'll only have one, your internet connection. Everything you need for the home will be carried over IP. |

I second Nasty's comments.
Convergence is getting closer and closer each day.
Good examples: Windows XP Media Center Edition and Mini-ITX PCs.
