Let me see if I can say this without a bunch of these words turning orange...what is going on here? This is becoming annoying. I am so frustrated withf every square inch of our lives turning into f'ing billboards.

I really like this forum, but if this continues I'm going elsewhere.

Just trying to cover server costs.

We have no off-topic flashing banners, all ads fit the theme and colors of the site and are presented in moderate amounts, much less than other sites.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but it is needed, unless someone wants to pay the programing/server bills...

This is it, no future ads will be placed, only some minor changes to the current ones.

OK, so then what's the deal with the new ads? Do you get paid by the view, do we have to mouse over the keyword and see the ad, or do we need to click through?

Well... Smile what you do with it is up to you...

I get paid when you click through...

In response to the OP, I now see that 6 or more are being presented in a single post. It is set for no more than 3 per entire page.

I need to fix that and I am sorry. I am looking into it right now.

Well you have done a nice job with this forum, still can't determine which is right now, phpNuke I believe.

Back to the topic, server fees? To run a server/web site with this kind of traffic is minimal, honestly there are plans with good solid reputable companies that can handle this for less than $200 US a year.

Ads are annoying, but these ads and the forum colors all blend together very nice, good html work!

What do think is minimal traffic? in terms of GB a month.

I don't think a forum has that much transfer per month that a simple hosting company I use charges only $8.95 per month for 35 GB of transfer and 1000 MB of storage. They have other plans too if interested PM me and I'll give you the URL

It has much more to do with sql performance than transfer.

We are currently looking at a 8 CPU backend sql server with scsi drives (6) with 16GB of RAM on a private rack with 4 load balanceing servers up front configured with dual processors, 4GB of Ram... All with unlimited transfer on a 100mbps pipe.

Thats what is needed to handle
situations such as this.

This is all much much more costly than the above numbers. And most certainly does not come from a shared account.
