I hope I'm posting this in the right area. I have been having problems enabling service with Vonage. The details are not exactly relevant here because this area is for feature requests (for those interested, the information can be found in the post titled "Linksys WRT54GP2 unable to establish connection with Vonage." in the main Vonage forum).

My feature request is that the online dashboard display all current device MAC addresses for the purpose of user's verifying that Vonage has the correct device identification. Obviously, without the correct MAC address, customers' devices cannot connect properly with Vonage to establish service that they have ordered. This feature would likely be most useful to those who activated online via the "retail activation". I can see that it may be useful for those who receive the devices directly from Vonage as well. Due to shipping errors that may occur, customers may receive a device with an incorrect MAC address on record with Vonage.

Finally, to make the feature even better, the ability to edit the MAC address would top it off. This would enable self-service and the ability to change phone adapters as necessary (for example, when an upgraded adapter is desired or the current one needs to be replaced because of a malfunction).

Thank you for your time. Please have a nice day!

That is a very good idea. I wanted to be able to add more mac addresses to the line but I understand they fight for registration. This would allow me to switch my house phones off and add my wifi portable for travel.... woot!

I should mention that Im in canada. We dont officially have the UTStarcom f1000s yet. I bought mine off of Ebay and programmed it to use a softphone account for now. Im happy with this solution to a point. I dont like the fact that I only have 500 minutes with softphone. Its ample, but I dont want to have to think about going over and all that. It makes me feel like an old cell customer. I seriously doubt anyone will be using excessive amounts of minutes on a softphone anyway, simply because we have to have a regular Vonage line to even get the softphone.

Sum this rant up...

User changable Mac addressing - THUMBS WAY UP!
Unlimited softphone minutes with regular Vonage account - THUMBS WAY UP!
Softphone only package...even if its 39.99 unlimited - BIG THUMBS UP AGAIN!

With the user selectable MACs. It would be nice to be able to add the macs in a list and then just checkbox the one you want to use. Only one selection possible at a time. A common name would be nice too, that way I dont have to remember what Mac belongs to what device. I just check beside "UTStarcom f1000 - Mac 0A1B2C3D4E5F6G and wait for the change to go active. Or whatever other devices I might have.
