Having problems with Internet Access while on a Vonage Call. In fact, I am unable to get any Internet Access at all while on a call. As soon as I go on-hook, I am able to immediately get access to the internet. My setup: Time Warner Cable to Motorola SB5100 Cable Modem to Linksys BEFSR41 wireline router (4 ports) to Linksys RT31P2 to pone
The computer with issues is connected to the BEFSR41 router. I use the additional 2 ports for other networked computers.
I have seen posts recommending changes to the IP address on the computer (setup as Static), and recommendations on QoS changes to the router. I would appreciate any advice anyone has on this problem. I would like to stay with Vonage, but cannot deal with situation for much longer. Please Help ... anyone! Many Thanks.
..... Now while I am writing all of this, my wife interrupt to use the phone .... so, at this point I cannot get my post through because of internet access problems.
So, I start messing around with stuff and here is what happened.
I have another computer on the main router and it could access the internet, yet my primary computer cannot. So, I swap the router ports, and still my primary computer cannot access the internet. I can ping between the computers with no problem. So, I decide to put the problem computer on the data port of the RT31P2 and Whooolaa, I have access. It makes no sense to me. Now the problem computer is running Windows XP (while the other is W98).
So problem is solved ... but, I do not understand root cause. Does anyone have an idea of why it is working this way. |
