Sharp UX-B700 fax machine works intermittently. Right now it's refusing to work at all. Other times (and other days) it will send a fax now and again. I already noticed that it sent more often when in STANDARD mode than in FINE mode which seems to correlate with the other evidence here. But more often than not, it's the LINE ERROR. I wish there was a way to defeat the printing of a paper report every time it made a LINE ERROR since I've wasted at least 40 sheets since getting Vonage. Even purchased this fax machine because I thought the old fax machine (Brother Intellifax 1270e) was the problem! (had I but searched for "vonage" and "fax' already...)
There doesn't seem to be a way of lowering the baud rate - scanned through the manual several times.
The "scan it then send it" trick has not worked once since I tried it.
Since finding this thread, I'm concluding that using fax machines is not bulletproof w/ Vonage, so it's time to find a new provider. I need bulletproof... like POTS.
Based on my experience, if you are thinking about buying Vonage, and you rely on being able to send faxes... don't bother! WAY too much hassle and your business will suffer.
OK, I know people have had a lot of issues with faxing over Vonage, or with any Voip provider. Here is a great site that will help you configure your fax machine to be more reliable with Voip. Just click on the fax manufacturer, then the make and model of your fax machine. It will explain step by step how to configure baud rate to 9600 (if possible), how to turn off ECM, and also how to set resolution to standard. There is also a link to the manual. Well it works..... but only after setting Baud rate to SLOW (9600), turning ECM=OFF and tweeking my Vonage Bandwidth to 90. I suppose I could have set up *99 as a universal prefix on the Fax machine instead of increasing the bandwith, but it's a rare day I don' use my cellphone at least 10X more .....
