I am not sure what the difference is between the xi and the normal 7310 but i have the normal 7310 and seems you have been lucky as i get about 1 out of 10 faxes to actually go through, the rest are communication errors. I have jumped through about 100 hoops with
vonage
support and after 3 days they said well i guess you cannot use our service. I am not sure why they cannot figure out what is going wrong, they said they tried all of the settings on thier end and my end that would effect it. We also tested for voice quality on the line and it was fine.
If anyone else has issues like this let me know, or if you had to do something to get your fax to work i would appreciate the knowledge
Thanks,
Joseph Crawford

I found out the only difference between the normal 7310 and the xi is that the xi comes with a usb cable, other than that the hardware is all the same. I wonder why i am having so many inconsistencies.

Resolved on my end thanks to HP,
vonage
continued to have me set the R/W Parameters
153 = 2
159 = 2
this was incorrect
HP had me set 153 = 6 and it works everytime. Thanks HP and
vonage
what were you thinking?

ok so i am starting to think there is a real
vonage
issue now, yesterday it all seemed to work fine, every fax i sent went through (probably 5) but this morning it will not work properly. I can get it to work for an HP test number everytime, but when i try to fax a client it errors every time, i have called his number to make sure the tones were correct and thier machine picked up, The closest i got was where it said faxing page 1, and it stayed there for about 10 minutes then failed.
All of the errors i get are communication errors. I have no activity on my cable modem when i am attempting to fax, and i am not sure why the transmission would be interrupted.

Post subject: Re: Anyone using an HP 7110?????
I have an HP LaserJet 3330 that would just occasionally work, but as soon as I called
Vonage
Support they made some very quick adjustments to my fax line, I rebooted my new PAP2 adapter, and it works fine at 33Kbps "with" Error Correction Mode turned on.
I had previously tried all the settings everyone had described and it still didn't work. I know it's tough sometimes to make your point to
Vonage
outsourced support folks, but the couple of times I've needed something fixed...they've been really great.

Post subject: LExmark x7170 works
All I had to do was dial *99 before I dial the fax #.
Everything is default:
Phone->Lexmark x7170->Motorola->dlink 728 router->aDSL
Fax is set to 33.6kbps and ECM is on...
Tried 2 destinations, both work, I believe one of them the receiptient is a Brother Fax machine.
Without the *99, it didn't work, prob. because my default is 30kbps

Post subject: Sharp UX B700 Fax Machine
Just wanted to add my fax to known fax machines that work with
Vonage
, Im using the Sharp UX B700 and have really no major problems, I am able to send and receive without any problems, but sometimes I do get a line error message but just hit resend and it works just fine. I also noticed that on the UX B700 that if you scan your documents first then send it, it works 100 percent of the time. I tried this from reading a post on another forum and it has worked everytime, I just sent 26 pages by just scanning them first into the fax machine and then hit send and it really worked. BTW I do not subscribe to
vonage
's fax line, I just send and receive over the 1 phone line that I have. Hope this helps other users out in some way.

Post subject: Brother MFC-5440- how to change baud rate
After reading through all the posts here about how the borther MFC5440 did not have options to change the baud rate, I came across this in the back of the manual:
If you are having difficulty sending or receiving a fax due to possible
interference on the phone line, we recommend that you adjust the
Equalization for compatibility. The MFC adjusts the modem speed
for fax operations.
1 Press Menu/Set, 2, 0, 1.
2 Press ▲ or ▼ to select Normal,
Basic (or High).
Press Menu/Set.
3 Press Stop/Exit.
■ Basic reduces the default modem speed to 9600 bps.
Unless interference is a recurring problem on your phone
line, you may prefer to use it only when needed.
■ Normal sets the modem speed at 14400 bps.
■ High sets the modem speed at 33600 bps. (Default)
The wierd thing is, when I sent a fax at Normal setting,it came out fine but at the basic (
Vonage
recommended 9600 baud rate) setting, the first page came out garbled........
anyone know how to send faxes consistently instead of being a hit or miss thing everytime.....?
thanks
Kaz.

Post subject: HP OfficeJet 6210
Finally hooked up my HP officeJet 6210 to my PAP2 via a splitter.
Worked just fine for faxing. I did use the *99 before dialing the actual number.
