Hi Folks, I've been considering a switch to Vonage, but had heard about issues with stand alone fax machines. From reading this forum, seems to be true. Two Questions for anyone: 1) Are you able to use your stand alone without signing up for the additional fax service? 2) Seems like Brother machines have some issues, but HPs seem to fare better. I have an HP 7110xi...anyone have any experience faxing with it?

Thanks for your help!

So I have been using mine for a week or so without issues after getting into the maintenance mode and changing the baud rate to 9600.

So good luck to everyone else...

I have the dedicated fax line for my HP LJ3105 fax machine on a LinkSys PAP2. I do not have problems faxing to or receiving faxes from ANY other fax machines except Brother fax Machines. I have received faxes and sent them at a full 33.6 Kpbs with any other fax that supports that, and the brother fax machine we have at our office connected to a land line has problems. It usually will fax to me on the first try, but it WILL NOT fax to me if we send in any mode other than regular resolution, definately not ever Super-Fine Resolution. I find I can send faxes to it usually on the second re-dial, and I cannot fax it at all if I use seuper-fine resolution. Thouht I might add that in the mix.

NEED HELP!

I have a Brother MFC-8440 which works wonderfully except with Vonage. I see some of you have been able to make it work with some changes to some settings. Can someone email me with info?

randyw@loansource.info

Brother is no help! And my next step is to purchase a different fax machine or drop Vonage!

HELP!!!!

Hi All,

I read several postings and the manual mentioned in the postings. I made changes to my MFC7220 in maint. mode for wsw19 as follows: 01100010. I am still encountering the poor line condition error when sending faxes out. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated...

I just signed up and have not had any problems sending or receiving faxes so far.

Equipment:

Dell Multifunction Laser 1600n Printer
Linksys RTP300

No settings changed at all.

Also: Our Verifone Omni 3730 LE credit card terminal works perfectly with Vonage, too. Connections even seem faster than before.

I finally gave up trying to figure out how to fax. I tried every setting in the book, and then some. I switched fax machines, several brands, and nothing worked. I am now back on Qwest copper and am very happy!

So far I've used a couple of different Canon fax machines, currently have an MP780 at home, no problems, running them all at 33600, ECM on, etc. I think most of the problems people experienced were with the older Vonage adapters.
