I too get all circuits busy ecspecially around 5p.m. central time.
If I try the call several times it may get through. I have both SBC local service and Vonage on different lines. If I try the same number on the SBC line I never get all circuits busy. Having worked in the telecom industry for many years the problem is obvious, Vonage does not have enough outbound lines to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) on their service to properly handle peak times. This problem should be very apparent to them if they keep any sort of log, (anyone who runs a pbx or telephone carrier should), and review their data. It may just be a cost issue, they have to pay to add additional lines. Hopefully the problem is they are adding customers faster than they can add lines and are working to resolve the issue.

The other problem they have is routing calls to other service providers and cell phones and mistakenly give the recording '"The number is not in service I100" when in fact the number is in service. If you try the number several times it will work, but most people would not try several times if they thought they must have the wrong number. As a consultant, for these reason we currently do not usually recommend them to business customers who do not need all the excellent bells an whistles they offer. Other Voip carriers have a better handle on call capacity and routing.

As far as inbound calls go I would appreciate others responses on how often people complain about not being able to call in to a number and wether that number is a transferred traditional carrier number or a new Vonage number. I currently do not have much information on inbound call failure or busy circuits.

I am in area code 630 and handle customers all over the country but primarily in Chicago area codes 630, 847, 815, 312, 773, 708 and 224

Does this mean Vonage doesn't have enough capacity to support their customers? Is it a cost or a technology issue? Will it ever be resolved or will it just keep get worse as more people sign up?

Vonage, I not looking for a guily plea. I just want a commitment that you will resolve this. Are you on top of this problem?

I've been having the exact same problem-- "All circuits are busy." My wife, who until now has been enjoying the free long distance, is frequently complaining that we ever left Verizon.

This problem started happening (for us) in March, and got much worse in April so I opened a ticket with Vonage. They asked me to email them with the number called from, called to, date, and time, each time it happened. So far I've sent in no less than 7 reports, and their support people have phoned us twice to discuss it.

Still no resolution, and it's gotten MUCH worse. I'd love to see Vonage succeed.... but if they can't handle the growth, maybe it's time to fork over the extra $5/mo and move to AT&T, who surely must have adequate capacity considering their stature in the telecom industry.

Followup.......

Got an email from Tier 3 support saying they found a carrier mapping issue and corrected it. I really did NOT want to move to AT&T so hopefully Vonage has corrected the issue and I can go back to being a happy customer.

I am on the phone with Vonage now, and have given them the address of this forum and a very helpful customer service rep has put in a ticket and hopefully this will be resolved and we call all recieve phone calls without any problems

I'm getting the same error notice in the Des Moines 515 area code. It seems to clear itself up after a few minutes, so opening a ticket wouldn't work very well...

yeah they keep testing the line but they say calls go through but i have at least one point every night where this happens

yeah, that's why I haven't bothered calling. It doesn't seem like this is something that they would need to test. If you're receiving an all circuits are busy message in an area it seems pretty obvious to me what needs to be done and what is causing it.

I'm having these problems too in Los Angeles. It's not my ISP, since I can use the compuer to surf (or whatever) without any problems.
