Hey everyone,

Well, my problem this week seems to be that I can't get my Voip system to work and it hasn't been working at least the last 4 days. It had been working fine for the last 3 months or so but recently, well not so much. I have service through Vonage and lately I haven't been able to send or receive calls over my system. The Voip adapter (Linksys PAP2) that I have has 4 LEDs on it (one for power, ethernet connection, phone1, and phone2). The power and ethernet LEDs are on but the phone LEDs aren't lit when I pick up a phone. And I do get a dial-tone on all the phones that I've tried.

I have two phones connected to the system. I've tried 3 different phones in various combinations, I've tried different phone cables and different ethernet cables, I've tried connecting the Voip adapter to different ports on my router and I've tried 2 other routers. I've also tried power cycling my Voip adapter and other routers with no luck. I have not power cycled my modem, though I did reset my IP. I'll try power cycling my modem as soon as I get a chance. Oh, and my internet connection is

Also, I have my system set up so that if the phone isn't answered within 30 seconds it forwards to a cell phone. This features still works so I'm pretty sure it's not an issue with my Vonage service.

I did look through most of the Vonage FAQ pages but I didn't find anything useful, though I am in a hurry so I might have overlooked something.

So, any thoughts, suggestions, ideas?

If I'm too vague or left something (important) out just let me know.

Thanks in advance.

I would reset the pap2 and power it down. then power down the cable modem. after a few mins, bring the modem back up, let it sit for a couple, and then power the pap2 back on with no phone lines plugged in. plug the pap2 ethernet directly into the cable modem. see if that works at all.
has the power light been flashing on the pap2?

I'll do that as soon as I get the chance, though it may be a few hours as I'm uploading a video for a client right now.

The power LED has been solid. The ethernet LED blinks occasionally but it's always done that.

Well, I figured it out. I have DHCP disabled on all my routers because I've never really liked it. So I've always had to manually apply the IP addresses to my devices. Which was all fine. But what had happened was last week my power went out in my house and apparently the PAP2 adapter got reset, losing it's IP address. And when it was rebooted, it wasn't able to find a useable IP through DHCP so it just decided to use one which wasn't even in the range of my router. So all I had to do was supply it with a useable IP and all is well again.

Thanks for your reply though, reebox.
