So I'm recently on Vonage (and quite happy). My brother is with another Voip provider and is less than happy and wants to switch to Vonage. However, as of today you cannot add a 416 number on the signup page? Anyone have any idea what is going on?

I think that Vonage offers numbers in the 647 area code also if 416 was to be exhausted. It doesn't show on the availability page anymore but I could have sworn that it used to. |

I see 416 now, but no 647, they did used to have both.. if they had some 905's then the ppl on the outskirts wouldn't have to use 416/647.. |

exactly. If they had 905's that serviced say Brampton/Mississauga/Oshawa/etc, then I would for sure get family/friends from there to hop on Voip. Right now Im not even going to suggest it since I know they wouldnt be for it if they can't get LNP. |

Has anyone heard when they will be adding to the 905 area code? Brampton, Oshawa/Courtice, Ajax, Whitby, and so on? Last time I spoke to someone on the phone at Vonage they said by mid-year. It is almost mid-year so I was wondering if anyone has heard anything new? |

Vonage will be making more 905 numbers available as of June 20th. This includes numbers in Oshawa, Brampton, Burlington, Oakville, St. Catharines, etc. As well, 705 numbers will also be available for Barrie. Great news for us 905ers who are not in Hamilton - until now, this has been the only 905 numbers that Vonage had. |

I thought I would call Vonage to inquire about the new numbers coming out in the 905 area code. I thought since it was less then a week maybe I could sign up early or order a router early. The person I got on the other end of the phone still knew nothing about the new numbers. Just kept asking me for my phone number to check LNP. When I asked what day it would be availible he said they don't have that info. I told them about the press release saying that it was coming and they told me that my source was probably wrong. I saw it in the Vonage website so how could it be wrong? After that they became very rude and obviously wanted to end the call. They asked me "Just what is the purpose of your call today? Do you want to sign up for service or not?" When I told them I would be waiting until I could get a local number they told me to have a nice day and thank you for choosing Vonage and ended the call. I'm beginning to wonder about their customer service? |

The customer service reps probably don't have any idea of what numbers are being added where until they are actually in the database, at the same time that they are on the website as available. The CSRs are answering calls for Vonage worldwide, and they probably wouldn't know what day things are happening. New numbers are being added across the world on an almost daily basis. That doesn't excuse the reps rudeness, but it explains why they don't know. The rep could have said something like "I'm sorry, I am not aware of the schedule for roll-out of any new numbers. Once new numbers are added, they are posted on the website, and in our system here, at the same time, so you might consider checking the website periodically." The info about the 20th comes from their marketing dept., as did the press release on the 1st, announcing that these additional numbers would be added "mid-June". |
