My employer wishes to change to Voip telephone service for our law firm which will, upon a move, have 8 phone lines, 2 of which are fax lines. Do you know of a way that we can get this service without having to purchase 4 boxes? Is there some other, in English please, way to connect all these lines? |

Sadly, I did speak with them. They were not aware of anything that would connect 8 lines in one location. I am thinking that each work station will need a box? And our system will work as it does now with South Western Bell service? We have a Panasonic phone system that has a lot of functions. |

The Vonage Value Added Reseller that will contact you if you filled out the form on the link I posted will have a multi-port solution for you. It is not available via Vonage directly. |

We have a Merlin 1030 (very old ATT stuff) with 5 lines coming in. I just disconnected 2 SBC lines and and popped in 2 Vonage lines and no one knows the difference. Your Panasonic should be just as easy. |

we have 4 Vonage adapters at our office and we didn't 'buy' any of them. They were free with our Vonage lines and they should be for you too. You will have to pay a $30 activation fee for each line, however. They integrate seamlessly into our AVAYA Partner ACS 4.0 system (also very old). We currently have 5 Vonage lines so there is plenty of room to upgrade.

Is this too messy for you? (the adapters are sideways for better air circulation...) |

You might want to read the thread here entitled "Small Business Phone Systems???"
That fellow has a panasonic phone system and can't get it to work with his Vonage box.....
Phone systems are not cheap, and changing one out to get Vonage would be pricey.
Frankly, I would migrate using one line at a time, and see how that works first. |

I agree!!
Well.. unless someone is starting up a new office, or just needs a new phone system.... then I would recommend a SIP IPBX.
But if a company has a phone system that they have made an investment in, and are just looking to migrate to Voip, then yes... I agree with you 100%
In the case of a legacy PBX, I consult my clients to let Voip compliment their business, and not dominate it. Voip can offset a lot of costs on their current telecom. But you can always keep a few pots lines for redundancy and 911. Most of my CPE has a pots "lifeline" to address these issues.
It all depends though. Because as we know, every business is unique. I have small companies that use tons of LD and INTL per month, and I have large companies that use mainly local and local-toll.
Thanks for the heads up on the other thread.
I will make sure to drop on line there as well.. |
