I signed up with Vonage, but they gave me a phone number for a town 210 miles away. So I have to call long distance to call home? What is the point in that? Ralph with Customer Service emailed "In response to your email I would like to advise you that we try to give everyone a local number to the area in which they live but sometimes unfortunately we do not have these numbers available." Is there a way around this, I am not from a little town. I am from a large metropolitan area, we have broadband cable, running water, indoor plumbing, and electricity. Mad

The only way around this would be to port an existing land line or cell phone number over to your Vonage service. The number I was assigned was from a town that is about 200 miles away from me as well. However, I just had my Qwest home phone number ported over to Vonage and now I have a local number. Get your number ported.
