Crackling noise on first ring outbound.

Has anyone had the problem where on outbound calls, the first ring you hear sounds crackled like you were calling a phone in Europe? Then the 2nd and subsequent rings sound normal (by U.S. standards).

Config is the 3 Linksys RT31P2 routers plugged directly into a Netgear WGR614 which is subsequently plugged into a Motorola SB5100 cable modem. ISP and stats in trailer below.

I noticed mine has also started doing this during the past couple days... no idea why, nothing has changed on my end.

Arris cable modem -> WRT54GS -> Motorola ATA

In the past week mine has taken to doing this during phone calls. I've never had static issues prior to last week. Hmmm...

me too, I also notice it when picking up phone at times

crackle dial tone crackle......then not a sound

What do you mean by crackled? Its like a scratchy broken up ring? Or a different ring completley?
