I have had Vonage now for three todays. I have not been able to make international calls to any number in Pakistan. The phone seems to ring to local US number without an answer. Called CS and as I have read now in this forum, they were of course no help at all. After being on CS phone line for 2 hrs, several calls transfers, no one could figure out what the problem is? Asked, does Vonage even works for calls to Pakistan, and CS rep. was not sure.
So before I dumped this service, is anyone else having the same problem? Has anyone able to make calls to Pakistan using Vonage?
Thanks for help. |

I had same problem when calling to INDIA. Got fake rings....but sometimes only.
Now, I use relianceindiacall.com and its' cheaper too
Vonage charges me $0.15/min but reliance $0.14/min.
Main thing is quality for international call |

I have an international calling problem. I Can't call Ukraine. Just rings and rings and rings.. you get the picture.
Sounds like an American ring too, not the usual Ukraine ring.
Tried to get help: It took 5 calls to Vonage, being routed to India and back, waited an hour and a half on hold total, and then was disconnected twice, had to start the endless phone menu system all over again, only to be told they would "escalate" the call and someone would tell me something in 24 hours.
I am anticipating that "something" will be "tough luck, no calling Ukraine for you". I will cancel my service if that is the case. |

maybe it has something to do with the internet being down in Pakistan? there was news about the main cable having a fault and as late as last week, I know that it wasn't up and running? maybe that might have something to do with it... |

I have called India twice, to two different numbers, and have also called Russia (Moscow). The sound was clear. The calls went through without a problem. Although I talked for awhile, the cost was quite cheap. All three calls were to cell phones. I am happy with Vonage thus far. |

Called Vinage because the 24 hours was up. Gave them the ticket number. Was told that because it was Sunday, the company was "closed" and I would have to call on Monday. . . 24 hours turned into 48.
Vonage didn't say we'll tell you something Monday. They didn't say 24 hours during the week. They said, "we'll have information for you in 24 hours." I even tried to cancel my service yesterday and they said that also couldn't be done on a Sunday.
Still can't call my wife's family in Ukraine. |

From Vonage's site:
"Sold directly to consumers and small businesses through www.vonage.com and select resellers, Vonage enables customers to use their existing telephone to make high-quality calls to any telephone in the world over any high-speed Internet connection. "
Anyone interested in a class-action false advertising law suit? |

Yeah! My aunt keeps her POTS phones unplugged, and I should be able to call them with Vonage! They said "any phone"! I guess that would include my aunt's phones, my grandmother's broken phones, and my brother's cell phone, even though it isn't on a network.
No lawyer would take that case. It's obviously advertising hyperbole which is legally allowed.
As for the problem at hand, I've only had to call Poland a few times and I've never experienced a problem. Have you tried calling at different times of day? Have you tried calling other numbers in other cities? Have you tried calling a cell phone? Or if the original number was a cell phone, have you tried a land line? |

Well, I think that i fthe issue is a known issue, and many people are experiencing a problem internationally. (search the posts, many, many people have the EXACT same issue, then I think an attorney would take the case. It would have merit.
I've tried calling 30 times in a row, tried calling cell phones over there and tried at different times since Friday. Every time yields the same result. A perpetual ringing phone that sounds like an american ring. If I hang up and call with a calling card, they answer right away an dthe ring sounds like the usual Ukraine ring (like a long beeeeeep)
I actually really want Vonage to do well and work out. I am truly hoping they remedy this because I hate SBC. But I have found many Vonage competitiors that very well may not be drowing in support from growing too fast that may have time to help its customers. |
