Hi, I am a Vonage customer for about six weeks now and got my number ported from Verizon to Vonage.yesterday. For the most part, things seem to work fine but i have seen at one instance that the call got forwarded to my cell. I don't have call forwarding setup unless for failure. So..did it detect a failure due to Qos issues?

Also, at another instant call went directly to voicemail. I didn't hear the ring and my vtech phone didn't log the call..so again could be due to Qos.

Also, how do i get inside the linksys to check and modify the qos settings. I read somewhere that by default they set it to 256..and should be modified to 30..is that correct?

Thanks

I've noticed on occasion that calls will go straight to voicemail (I've been a customer about 3.5 months now). Haven't done anything about it because it hasn't been frequent or too much of a problem. However, now it continues to happen somewhat frequently, but, in addition to that, when we try to call out to someone it sometimes will ring once and then do nothing. I have reports still unconfirmed that the person on the other end can "hear" me, but I can't hear them. This is hit and miss, meaning it doesn't happen everytime, but it happens at least 40-50% of the time over the past few days.

My setup is cable modem to netgear mr814v 2 wireless router to pap2. My pap2 line 1 runs into the wall (wiring has been isolated) and I have only 2 phones (both cordless) plugged into wall sockets. I have also tested with a cordless phone plugged into the wall, but have experienced the same problems. My home is about 2.5 years old.

Here are some my stats from my connection at testyourvoip.com

I am having the same trouble where my calls are going straight to voicemail without my phone ringing. Has anyone been able to shed any light on this problem?

Hi,

Thank you for replying so fast to my question. My number was transferred a few weeks ago, but I just unplugged the phone company connection at the box today, so maybe that is what is responsible for the messages going straight to voicemail. I have the timer set on 30 seconds, the default setting, which should be sufficient time for me to pick up. Any insight you can offer would be much appreciated. Thanks, again.

so can you make outgoing calls? will it ring if you have the phone plugged directly into the Vonage device?

I have noticed calls going straight to voicemail when I am dialing out and someone is dialing in at the same time.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I can make outgoing calls. My voicemail is now working properly (i.e., it's picking up messages after 5 or 6 rings) but my phone is not ringing. I've been retrieving my messages by email. Any idea what may be wrong?

what phone is it? can you try it with another one? is it plugged directly into the Vonage device or is it plugged into a home phone jack?

I have the phone connected directly to the Vonage device and then am using the data port to "light up" the other lines. If I don't connect to the jack using the data port, the other lines are dead. The phone was ringing when it is plugged to the device alone, that is, without having the other lines active. Maybe I need to turn off the ringers of the other phones that are not hooked up to the Vonage device? I will shut everything down again and see if that works. Any other advice? Thanks!
