Hello all,
I am turning to the pros for help here. I have my VOIP service delivered via a Sipura SPA-2000, and it works fine with my current configuration:
Internet<-->Cable modem<-->Router<-->ATA<-->Cordless phone base station
I can make and receive calls just fine from the handset plugged directly into the ATA.
I would like, however, to use my home wiring to allow the use of any outlet. I've disconnected the lines in the NID/NIU by disconnecting the RJ11 plugs. However, my next step I would think, would be to plug an RJ11 cable from the ATA into either the residential gateway (like I said, my house is pretty new, so all rooms are pre-wired with a Cat5e network drop and 2 phone lines via a single RJ11 connector and a switched pair splitter, all of which comes back to this UStec distribution box in the master closet) or any outlet. However, regardless of whether or not I do this in either place, or if I use the splitter or plug directly), it always gives me a solid green status light on the Sipura as if a phone is off the hook - but there are no phones plugged in anywhere.
My theories are that there is some sort of polarity issue (just from reading here, I can't fathom why it would occur though) or that the house loop is not complete for some reason, possibly requiring a loopback or cross-connect at the NID?
I would greatly appreciate any help troubleshooting this issue.

I wasn't aware that the Vonage service could run on the Sipura devices. I'm thinking this might be a way to get anonymous call rejection, since Vonage doesn't seem interested in adding new features these days (just romancing new customers and the investment community).
Were you able to get the box to energize all the outlets in your house, or are you still restricted to one phone? |
