Post subject: inline wav to text converter?
I would love a way to simply read my voice messages when they are emailed to me (with the audio .wav files)
Does anyone know if there is an open source solution that I could implement on my linux-based mail server to convert the wav file into a text files as it arrive? Some kind of audio->text converter I imagine.

Not fully free. 39.95 for IBM's ViaVoice engine.
Let me know if you find something else, I'm interested implenting this as well. Good idea

ASR is pretty unreliable - I doubt you'll ever be satisifed with the results.

I too am looking into the speech to text technology. I am looking into using Sphinx-4. There are also products you can buy such as Wav To Text for windows.

Dragon Naturally Speaking is one of the better engines out there - but it needs to be trained for a particular voice.
Decent engines which recognize voice without training cost $$$
Naunce (makers of Dragon, etc) have several available.
