Was wondering if anyone has had experience with number portability with Sprint Complete Sense. I signed up with Vonage yesterday and was wondering it has taken others with Sprint service. |

I haven't had any experience with Sprint. I know they are a large company and deal in more than just cell phones. I've run across many servers that are owned or leased by Sprint.
LNP is a mixed bag. Some people get their number in as little as 10 days. Some as long as 4 months or more. It depends mainly upon the integrity of the company you're dealing with. Some will withhold the number on a technicality whether feigned or actual. If you owe money to the company that you are requesting the transfer from, they are under no obligation to extend further service to you.
It seems that people who have dealt fairly with other business partners get dealt fairly in return. However, if you find that it is taking an extremely long time to get your number, the problem most likely will be at the other end. Good Luck.

Thanks for responding Mike. When I switched to Sprint from MCI, the transfer took about two weeks. I hope this switch goes as well. It's hard to use the virtual number after having my current number for thirty years. |

I've been a happy Vonage customer for six months, have never had a problem with it. We have a COMCAST cable modem and sometimes we'd have DNS issues, and comcast couldn't resolve names, but the phone would still work.
Unfortunately, our small business was in an area where the phone number wasn't available to be ported to vonage. I got impatient, and really wanted the biz on the VOIP Bandwagon and signed up with ....another VOIP provider... who did not outrightly say 'no we can't port the number' (as vonage did at the time)
to make a long story short. the number was not "properly" ported. The line got diconnected in the mix. Sprint and "the other company" point fingers at eachother, and our small business spent a week without it's primary number at the height of our busiest season. worst of all, you'd call the number and it would give the old "doo-doo-doo. We're sorry, the number you are trying to reach has been disconnected," completely nullifying our current print advertising. Old customers know better, and contacted us to tell us about the problem, potential new customers... who knows. We have over a weeks worth of unknown. A fledgling, but growing, business in it's second year of operation does NOT need to spend a week and a half where the phone does not ring. As of right now, it's still not restored, although the local phone carrier says we should have it back tomorrow. I don't know what the reconnect fee will be, but it's worth it to have the phone ring again.
Now, after all this heartache, it appears the number is now within Vonage's realm. I'm scared, but I want vonage very badly. What can I do to make sure I can port to vonage without going without incoming calls like this past time? |

I have a Sprint number waiting to be transferred to Vonage. Vonage submitted my paperwork in December and I'm still waiting. I'm OK due to the fact I have ADT monitoring on that POTS line. |

Get NextAlarm.com monitoring for your ADT alarm system over broadband and get rid of the POTS (and save $30/mo)....
