I would like to know if anyone truly knows what speed tests are reliable and which aren't.

The one on this site provides significantly lower results than all the others I've tried on the net. I no longer know which to believe.

I've tried 2Wire, CNET, Speakeasy, DSLReports, this site and a number of other smaller sites.

Any recommendations of who to believe?

For some reason, and we do not know why, Comcast ISP customers, mainly the ones that have received the "speed upgrade" report issues with our speed test.

For me it is dead on.

Honestly, I've never heard of the speed upgrade. I just moved in to my new house 3 weeks ago and moved the equipment that I was using at my old house.

For testing my home connection in regards to Voip I have found that www.testyourvoip.com is hands down the best. It loads a Java applet that actually mimics a Voip call back to a site that you choose. This analyzes the critical factors that will determine the quality of your calls. There is good help information at this site to help you understand the information provided.

My connection tests fine on www.testyourviop.com. Ping test to 67.17.64.154, apparently a Vonage server, shows average ping of 55ms with Ping Plotter. I'm having a significant problem never the less.

At least once during most calls my uploaded audio drops out for 10 seconds at a time. The phone call is never disconnected, my outgoing audio always comes back if the caller waits the 10+- seconds. I never hear the callers audio drop out. My regular callers are used to the problem and we just wait it out. It's disruptive in calls to other parties.

My linksys Vonage box is behind another router. Several different routers have been tried with no effect.

Has anyone else seen the same symptoms and heard of a cause or a fix?

I would recommend you start a new thread with your problem.
Provide more details, such as specifics about your ISP, cable modem, router, etc. Specifics about how your router is configured. Specifics about your www.testyourvoip.com results.
I bet someone can help you out. This forum is very useful.
