Here's a good update for you. Today my SAT-T60 made it's second successful call in. Looking at my Activity on my Vonage Dashboard I see it took 2 tries, but it worked again.

Here's the interesting part. I have 18 calls already today logged into an 866 number, which turns out to be the DirecTV mothership. The "other" call that we normally don't know about. I see 20 of them each day I have the phone line hooked up. I am guessing these calls are failing, that's why there are so many.

Thanks for all of the work that you are putting into this guys. Very Happy Personally, everything works good for me now but it took allot of trial and error to get it that far. PS anyone what to buy a couple of external modems. Lol Thanks again. Cool

I had good success using 9600 baud as the modem speed. I had tried 19200, but it didn't work until I slowed it down even more. Anyways, here's how to do it

If you are using the internal modem:
setting ",#096" as the dialup prefix will limit the modem to 9600

If you are using an external modem:
set ",#396" as the dialup prefix

In my case, i have a HDVR2 and ended up using an external modem, but if your internal modem is still OK, the 9600 speed might be OK. The internal HDVR2 modems sound like there pretty crappy and go out.

Another thing to try is to keep on trying different dialup numbers, including long distance ones. Some of the numbers might have crappy modems on the other side.

NOTE: This was all done using the new 2.14 firmware, but I suspect it will help even if you don't have the firmware. Also, don't forget to set your bandwidth saver the max speed on your Vonage account page.

Follow up on my situation. While I can make a test call 30% of the time, I haven't been able to make one daily call yet.

Series 1 Tivo, new firmware, ,*99 and ,#019 (can't even make a test call with any other # setting).

Update:

I finally got set up with an external modem and can make about 80% of my daily updates at 9600 baud. Series 1 Tivo and new firmware.

Checking my status I see that the TiVo call was again a success! That's 3 for 3 with the firmware! Yeah!

On the flip side I see on my dashboard that the hidden calls to DTV are averaging 20 a day. I would venture a guess that these are not a success, I figure they would stop if they complete. And reading about it there are a lot of other people noticing the same thing and DTV is blaming our equipment. http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=2837547&&#post2837547

Ok, I just replaced my Sony SAT T-60 DirecTivo for a DirecTV R10 Tivo and it still will not make a call. I have tried all sorts of prefix dialing patterns, but nother works. All of the other regular (Non-Tivo) DirecTV receivers in my house call out just fine.

I have the Motorola ATA, so what do I need to do now?? This thread has confused me a bit as it states to PM certain folks while stating that the CSR at Vonage don't know what this Upgrade is about.???

At any rate, as a Certified Network Design Engineer, I figured I can handle getting this done, however I have also read that the firmware upgrade can only be pushed to the unit via Vonage. So I guess I am asking how can I get on the list for this? As I can not get any Tivo to complete a call in my house.

Thanks
Scott

I sent a PM to each of you because I read the first few posts and then sent the first request...read down a little further today and sent the second request (which included my MAC address).

I would love to be a tester on this. I am very familiar with computers and networking and all that stuff so I think I could provide some helpful feedback if you still have room in your latest round of testing.

Thanks,

B
