Are these changes going to be applicable to my Motorola TA someday? I normally use the network interface to reach TiVo, but last week I tried to install a brand new one right out of the box and they don't have the network capability in that pristine state, so the telephone is the only option, and needless to say I tore my hair out trying to make it work without terminating a few minutes into the call.

Try to get the new tivo to dial out on a regular line (ie. a friends house) then use the network interface, or try ,#401 or ,#304, as a prefix, i forget what the exact prefix is Sad

,#401 is the secret handshake, and I went to my office to do the initial download! But I would hate to have to do it again if I added another TiVo.

Ok, I have taken control of the TiVO Firmware Issue. All of you who already responded, disrgard this, I will get to you guys 1 by 1.

For those who haven't PMed me, follow the below template:

I would be grateful for some help.

I seem to be able to get my Directv (Tivo) HR10-250 to dial with Vonage. The key was to add a DSL filter and the phone wire directly into the Vonage box. I have the Motorola unit. Without the DLS filter the unit would not dial at all. Now I pass the test call setup.

However, when I force the daily call the following happens:

1. unit prepares for call and dials correctly.
2. unit connects and negotiates.
3. downloads for about 10+ minutes and then says call interrupted.

I used the following settings:

",#096"
*99 to turn off call waiting.

This was the middle of the night so it was not call waiting that interrupted the download. I also tried 10 times and it happens everytime.

If I am connecting fine... is the prefix wrong?

*99 sets the ATA to the highest setting, call waiting is turned off by the prefix *70.

Thanks, so with the Motorola unit should I be using "*99"?

So "*99, *70"

or just "*70"?

Also... I have seen all the following prefixes:
#014
#314
#096 etc..

How do I know which one to use with the Motorola?

Update... further to problem about "Failed, call interrupted".

I have now been trying to download updated for several hours.

I can connect no problem. Test phone even works. Each time I connect it says "downloading". Works with different numbers no problem. 10+ minutes pass and it says Failed, call interrupted.

It's no call waiting.

Trying to get both TIVO and a dialup modem (using PCanywhere) to work w/ Vonage. FAX works OK

I thought I had successfully tested the dialup modem prior to disconnecting the landline service, but either I remember wrong or somehting has changed.

Here is my info

LInksys WRT54GP2 Router/VOIP adapter w/ Voice qos AT 256K, Bandwith saver at 90k
MOtorola SB5120 cable modem
Voip speed tests:
My Results
Download 4,282,824 bps
Upload 357,480 bps
QOS 98%
RTT 59 ms
MaxPause 70 ms

I have tried all the things mentioned on the posts:
Tivo number to 212 w/ prefixes
Changing modem to 9600 or lower
using *99 prefix

Anyone with any ideas, I'm willing to try.
I'm not as concerned w/ TIVO since it looks like I don't really need it, but I MUST get my modem dialup to work for my job, if Voip won't work, I will have to get a landline connection for that and keep Voip for all my voice calls, but I would rather not do that if I don't have to.
