I've just received my kit and connected my Vonage network. The good news is it's half working. My configuration (for now) is...
cable modem 5.0 Mbps<->Linksys WRT54G<->RT31P2
I have a dial tone and am able to make a call using the phone 1 port. However, I have 2 telephones. I do not hear a dial tone on phone 2 port but instead hear crackling or static. LED Phone 2 illuminates / flashes during bootup of the RT31P2 but never lights up solid.
I've tried powering off the RT31P2, swapping the phones, power up and the problem appears to be with Phone port 2. Firmware on my WRT54G is 2.04.3
I see from...
http://www.linksys.com/download/vertxt/wrt54g_ver.txt
firmware 3.01.3 has the bullet
- Resolves issue with Voip adapters
Should I upgrade my firmware or any other suggestions?
Thanks! |

Line 2 on the telephone adapter will only be active if you are paying for a second phone line. |

Ahhhh that's how they get ya!
The KX-TG5230M or other such 5.8 phones should do the trick.
I live in a loft so we want a cordless phone upstairs and a corded phone downstairs. I thought with the unlimited package I could do this. Thanks again. |

just go to te dollar store and for $1 you can buy a splitter that will work.. or you can go to walmart or radio shack or somewhere and get the same one for $5.. up to you.. |

I have 5 telephones hooked up to my one telephone line port using a splitter, as well as hooking the Vonage line into my wall jack which activated all of the other phones on my house wiring.
The line 2 port of the adapter is there for a fax line, or if you wanted two phone lines. It is good that it is there in case someday in the future you want an additional phone line, you won't have to order an additional adapter. |
