I have been a Vonage in-home user for about 9 months now. Recently I have moved to a new office that has a general number for calls comming in. I have a direct number on the PBX network. When my wife tries to call my direct number, instead of the general office number, her call is routed to the general office number instead of my direct number. Any other type of call (cell, standard phone, etc.) can be placed to my direct number and it goes to my direct number. Can anyone figure out why calls from a Vonage number get routed to the general number?

The only thing I can think of is that it's a switching issue at the Vonage switch where it picks up the data packets off the Internet and switches the call to a standard phone line.

Just curious.

Three questions..
Is your wife calling your office from your Vonage phone line?
If your direct line is busy do calls go to the general number?
Is your direct number on your SimulRing list?

This is in response to both of you offering some insight into this matter.

It is an inside PBX system. She was calling using the Vonage phone from the house. I do not have my direct number forwarded. She was calling when the line was open.

I do not have the answers to the other questions concerning the specifics of our PBX network. I would have to ask the network guys that maintain it.

Sorry for the incomplete response.

I guess this is curiosity more than anything.

There are too many variables to qualify a good answer to this situation. Without knowing the type of PBX and the Telco service type into it and the type of routing used in the PBX, there may be no way to figure this out on this forum.
