I am getting fed up with the loss of audio, in both directions. I was wondering if anyone had experience with getting the number "back". (I transfered my Bell SOuth number to Vonage and don't want to lose it)
Thanks |

I transfered my number to another Voip provider. It was with Verizon (POTS LIne) before Vonage. It took about 3 weeks. |

Did you have to jump through any hoops for the phone bill verification stage that most providers still seem to want?
I've noticed that the Vonage TOS have some worrying language in there: ===== 1.9 Number Transfer on Service Termination Upon termination of the Service, Vonage may, at its sole discretion, release a telephone number that was ported in from a previous service provider to Vonage by you and used in connection with your Service provisioned by Vonage to your new service provider, if such new service provider is able to accept such number, and provided that (i) your account has been terminated; (ii) your Vonage account is completely current including payment for all charges and disconnect fees; and (iii) you request the transfer upon terminating your account. =====
Did you have to call in to Vonage? Or did they just hit you with the disconnect fee as part of the transfer processing?
I've found a provider who I'm fairly happy with, will attempt the port for me, and doesn't require me to use a locked ATA. I have the forms and faxes filled out and ready to send, I just didn't quite get around to sending them off today. |

It was pretty painless. I did have to call Vonage to cancel service after the number port, they don't seem to cancel as part of the LNP ( surprise-surprise). Also I had to call for the credit (a.k.a. disconnect fee) after they received the TA back, once again they are hoping you will forget. By the way I was waiting 30-40 mins. to talk to someone about the termanation and again for the credit,,, some things never change.
As far as a copy of the bill, the provider I went with used a screen print of the Vonage online bill.
Good Luck!!!!! |

Dave,
Can you please tell mw what Voip carrier you are with now? I also live in NY and curently have Vonage, im thinking of porting my number to OOL but the customer serv people tell me that they can't port a from a Voip company such as Vonage, only POTS.
I ported my current # from verizon to Vonage and just am feed up of the poor quality and calls always going to voicemail.
Any info you can provide would be greatly appricated.

I just sent you a PM with the info. If anyone else would like the information just PM me. I don't want to recommend another provider in the general forum.
Thanks, Dave |
