Has anybody seen what Linksys has come up with ...

Wonder if
Vonage
is waiting for this to launch?
If you read the manual it looks like it has a built in web browser which would allow one to authenticate through a captive portal.

Yes and proablly once it does they will launch an outdated and worthless wifi phone lol.
They were going to launch in Oct but of course I thought they meant Oct of this year. But guess they meant Oct of another year cause it came and gone and still no wifi. There is another provider that has released the first version of teh same Wifi and now released the sencond generation of the phone. Now I am wondering if
Vonage
is releasing the first or second generation or are waiting to see if there is a third generation.
All I know is this is the 4th time they gave a time to release and a 4th time they missed it. the next date is by the end of the year and well that is only alittle more than a month and a half away. Anyone want to bet they will miss that one too? After all it takes time to get the phone in the stores and if they can't come up with a date than they don't have them ready to ship either.

According to an article in the December Men's Health posted on the
Vonage
press release web site the phone is "available now". Customer service advised the phone will be out before the end of the month.

Reading the Men's Health article it says ....
"In out tests as at dozen Starbucks in Manhattan (all within a half block), the phone instantly logged on ..."
Wonder how they managed to get past the authentication screens?

Since they started the beta test there has been another release of the phone that will allow that. It was teh next generation. That has been out and being offered in others places.
