Hi all...

This is the first time I've ever come across this issue, but I just got off a conference call (that I did not initiate, our job has a conference call service that we dial into), and about 10 mins later went to make another call. The phone ringing sounded like it was underwater, but I still heard the people from the conference call, though they sounded like they were underwater too.

Anyone else ever have this happen? I just unplugged my ATA for a few minutes but that didn't help at all. I guess I'll unplug both the ATA and my cable modem. This is just silly.

Okay, this is even more weird. I call the number back for the conference call service, and it's still sounding like it's underwater, BUT I can hear the automated message AND the people still on the conference call (all sounding like they're underwater). Nutty!

Okay, well it looks like I solved the problem by power cycling my Linksys router.

Used to happen a lot to me - cust support said it was 'a bug' and they were working on it (this was perhaps a year ago). It stopped happening and I assumed they fixed it.

But it's back today! Very annoying as it renders the line unusable, and rebooting my network hasnt helped.

OK, I'm a novice at this, but I scanned the forum for CPC and it doesnt soudn like the same problem...
(a) CPC seems(seemed?) to be an issue with Linksys adapters not MOT?
(b) it seemed to be an issue for people using PBXs, with the way the adapter talks to the PBX to tell it the call was dropped remotely - is that right?

I have no PBX, and when this problem occurs my phone shows the line as dropped. I also get a clean dialtone when picking up the line again. Once a call is connected is when you get the garbling of the two calls together. Also the data light on the cable modem just keeps going angd going. It's like the disconnect between Vonage's servers and the adapter, or Vonage and the public system, isnt working proberly. Or the disconnect isnt being sent from my adapter to Vonage (on the Internet, that is). Could it be some kind of IP problem? What is the protocol the adapter uses to tell Vonage to drop the call?
