Hello, Sorry if this topic has been covered already. I tried searching for someone having this problem. I am using the Motorola Voice Terminal, VT1005V with my cable modem Motorola SB5100. My IP is dynamic and I can ping it from a remote location but I cannot connect to my PC from any type of remote control software i.e. pcanywhere. Is there anyway to configure the Vonage router to accept this type of incoming connection? Thank you, |

I think you want to look into port forwarding options on your router.
I'm assuming you are trying to get in and not out. |

There are 2 things you can do: 1. Find out which port those applications uses and forward those ports to your PC. I generally do not recomend this because applications like PC anywhere isn't very secure.
2. Install a VPN end-point router. This way you can remotely VPN into the router, then connect to your PC behind the router. Your Vonage MTA can connect to the VPN router too. This is much more secure, using IPSec for industrial grade or PPTP if you're doing this "on the cheap". Recommend you take a look at Linksys BEFSX41. Good luck. |
