Instead of using the telephone to record your voicemail message, or holding the telephone next to a speaker and playing what you would like for your message, how about having the ability of uploading an mp3 of what you want as your voicemail message through your account with the web site. I know that there would be bit rate requirements because of the size but that is no problem for me. I would really like to record my message in high quality and then convert it down and upload it.

It is a neat idea, but realistically it would not need to be in high quality. It's only going to sound as good as the quality of the phone listening to it.
If I have a $20 from Walmart, no matter what the bitrate it is will still sound like a $20 Walmart phone. I could see for recording soundclips etc, it wuold be neat.

To me it's not a matter of the quality, rather the content. I can do music with voice overs digitally and upload them to make it sound much more professional.

I'm with happyshow and JimJimJim, and I've replied for two reasons:
1. It's one more card in the suggestion box.
2. Someone will see this in a year and say, "But that service *is* offered; I signed up last week and uploaded my OGM just fine," and then I'll get a reply ;)

It's quite lovely that the BB code that worked in the above line doesn't work in my .sig, particularly since my profile shows this helpful assistance for composing a signature:
(255 characters max. Type your signature with BB coding)

Mleh :P

I need this feature, and a lack of it has me seriously considering other options. I have a recording with our theme music and recording it over the phone just doesn't sound right. Why can't I just upload it? It doesn't seem like that hard of an enhancement to make!

You revived a 2 year old thread? Good lord!

Some companies do not allow you to do that anymore, partly because of copyright issues. Grandcentral allowed it but once they were bought by Google, they axed it as an option.
