As an example, I also have service from AT&T Callvantage. I own the router, I want to configure my second SIP port.
Good... call up AT&T and tell them to help you with setting up their service on your second port.

If the password is not forthcoming on this forum, then I will have no choice but to reverse engineer the device - which by the way is EXTREMELY LEGAL
I guess you never heard of something called the DCMA? If you live within the US or its territories, it's illegal to reverse-engineer copyrighted code.

The DMCA only applies to circumventing copy protection. I don't think you can copyright a password.

True...also I believe the passwords are different for each box, so that may be interesting to see what happens when he "spreads it all over the internet" as he said....

Hmmm. I guess you do not know of what you speak. None of the 5 titles of the DCMA has anything to do with reverse engineering. As a communications firmware engineer for almost 30 years, I have had a bit of experience in this arena. I must conclude that either (1) you have not read the DCMA, or (2) you do not understand what you are reading. In either case, it does not apply.
Please note the following points:
(1) I do not possess the source code, which is no doubt copyrighted.
(2) I am not creating a derivitive work
(3) I am not attempting to copy, or sell a system to enable others to copy, any copyrighted work.
(4) Several major router vendors sell products containing firmware I have written, most of which is copyrighted either jointly or soley by me. Anyone is welcome to tear into my work, and I would welcome the critique.

Yes, I own an Internet Cafe and Overseas Phone shop in the
Philippines
. I have 3 AT&T Router-T/As and 2
Vonage
T/As there.
I also do contract development all over the U.S. and carry an AT&T router with me hotel to hotel.
I have several more devices that are new in boxes and have no service yet.
The best analogy I have heard so far is the cell phone industry. Outside the U.S., it is very easy to buy a cellphone that will work with any GSM sim card inserted. If you buy one in the U.S. (and some European countries) the are generally locked so as to work only with a single provider. If, in fact, you have gotten a "discount" from the normal retail price, then perhaps having less than the full product is an acceptable tradeoff. For me, it is not. I paid full price for the routers, and I should be able to configure them for whatever provider I choose, when and as I see fit.

I've never heard of anyone getting terminated for using
Vonage
from another country. That clause is probably just in there in case some crazy foreign government tries to go after them. Not that it's even relevant to the discussion anyway.
