I need to understand how VoIP business works and what costs require for a company to invest to implement this system.

Vonage voip business is just dialtone. Its great if you need free ld but the call quality isnt guarenteed 100% which for some business is a concern. In addition, if you need a full voip phone system, you are on your own becuase Vonage doesnt have a hosted offering at this time.

If thats what you are looking for, I would look at iTEL-ip (www.itel-ip.com). They are a full featured hosted IP PBX Phone System. Features include PBX, Unified Messaging Voice Mail, In and outbound faxing, a free MS e-mail account, call recording, ACD, IVR and private internet access. That is how they deliver QoS (guarenteed call quality). Becuase of that its not the cheapest, but it is by far and away the best Hosed VOIP PBX I have sen yet. Their prices start at $44.95/month.

There also is packet 8 but I have heard they have had problems with downtime a lot latey. FWIW...
