After sporadic service yesterday, my service is out completely today. Houston, area code 281. Anyone else experiencing this problem? |

I live in the Lehigh Valley area in PA and my service has been out since late last night. I don't think its my internet connection since I can access everything else on the internet without any problems.
This morning I tried making a phone call and after dialing their would be a 5 second pause and then a fast busy. I've tried rebooting the router (Linksys RT31P2) but that doesn't help the issue. When the router comes back up the phone 1 light turns on after about 3 minutes, but I still get the fast busy. About 5 minutes later the phone 1 light goes out again.
Current ISP is RCN. |

Couple of interesting things here -
1. I was able to maneuver the phone tree and get in touch with a live body in under 2 minutes this morning.
2. According to the support person I spoke with, my Motorola TA is dead. I personally can't see it, but they are going to send me a Linksys router as a replacement. Guess we'll have to see what happens.
Stay tuned - |

My service went back up again around 9am this morning. Not sure if the issue was with my ISP or Vonage. |

Don't think it was a vonage problem. Vonage's registration servers are not geographic. So if you were having a problem in Texas it would not be isolated to that area. Maybe the phone adapter just needed to be rebooted or there was a problem with the ISP temporarially. |

I've had this issue before. In my case, I had intermittant outages with my ISP (I found out they were doing some sort of upgrade) so the service kept going on and off. Then when the service finally was on for good, my phone would no longer work. I rebooted my RT31P2 several times and each time, it would say my phone number is online (via the web interface) but outgoing calls resulted in a fast busy signal and incoming calls automatically went to my cell phone (network availability number).
After waiting on hold with Vonage for about 30 minutes, I got tired of waiting so I decided to try to reboot my adapter again except this time leave it unplugged for 5 minutes before plugging it back on. This fixed the problem and my service was restored. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not but leaving it unplugged longer resolved the problem in my case.
So anyway, try unplugging your adapter for 5 minutes and then plugging it back in and see if it helps.

If there is a major outage at Vonage you will know about it because EVERYONE will be down. The best thing to do is check the web account for service outage announcements. If nothing is there the problem is most likely your ISP.
One of the best ways to troubleshoot is this forum because like I said you will not be the only one affected and you will see numerous posts about Vonage being down. |

I had the same problem Thursday thru Saturday here in Central TX. My ISP would go out the same time for a long period of time for 2 days in a row and caused my Vonage not to work. Now I am fine.
