I have been using COX cable internet services for more than a year and have been quite happy with it as long as it works. However, I noticed in the last few weeks a very unpredictable behavior in the cable signal. Sometimes it drops for hours. Trying to get help from COX support is almost impossible. By the time the technician gets to my house the problem is gone.
I decided to start a blog in order to document all my experiences and make it public in your forum.
Here it is: http://cableconnection.blogspot.com/
Please feel free to comment. I will also submit it to COX technical support and let you know the outcome. |

Hi Double - (I havent a clue what a "cojotraian" is...) Sorry to hear you are having such a frustrating time w/Cox. You dont happen to have (or had) Cox Telephone as well do you? I have the exact same cable modem as you, and Cox in San Diego. I ended up buying it after 3 brand new Motos had weird problems like the above. When the brand new Linksys had similar flakiness, I finally got a tech out who knew something, and determined that a coaxial filter that resides in (but isnt part of) the digital telephone box outside had gone bad. In 5 minutes 2 months of frustration ended. Just thought I'd mention it in case it helps.
Also, I suggest you might want want to remove at least the MAC address and Serial Number from your blog. It would be fairly easy for someone else to spoof as you. A successful gentleman living in a very upscale neighborhood that probably does at least some of his at home business on his cable connection might be too much of a temptation for some [lesser humans] to bear.
Good luck dealing with all those guys with rediculous made-up nicknames they call techs... |

A lot of times if water gets into the wire or a bad connection inside of a splitter will kill the whole connection. The cable company should be able to come out and test the line both at the telephone pole and at the cable modem, even if you are not experiencing problems at that particular time. |
