Hi,
I've been testing my Voip line before doing the switch. Now that I've decided to move ahead, I was wondering if I should wait to setup 911 until after LNP is completed or can I do it now and the service will switch with my number?
Thanks,
Michael |

1) Do in now, right now. 2) Test it now. 3) Test it then, after your LNP goes through. |

I think this is the right advice, i.e. register your address via the 911 service as soon as you get the box and then again after getting the LNP completed. In fact I just got my email from Vonage telling me that the LNP is complete and this is a quote from that email (the caps are theirs):
| Quote: | | PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT YOU WILL NEED TO REACTIVATE YOUR 911 DIALING CAPABILITY FOR THE NUMBER YOU TRANSFERRED TO Vonage. |
The rub in all this is that when I go to my Vonage Webpage to re-submit my 911 address I get an error:
| Quote: | The following error(s) occurred: You cannot update your address without changing any field(s)
|
Grr - I wish Vonage would take a deep breath, sit down and actually try some of the things they tell us to do. This one is especially critical since it is related to the 911 service which is a sore point between Texas and Vonage right now. [/quote] |

Wow, thanks for the warning. One thing I'm still unclear about... How do you test 911, besides the obvious? |

Yeah, got the same email today because my number just ported (today). I was confused too as there's no (obvious) way to "reactivate" 911 if you've already done it. I was going to wait until a few days after the port to see if my account changed such that I could reactivate it.
