I hope some one at Vonage can help me.

I bought an Cisco ATA 186 that was Unlocked from ebay.

Guess what the guy outright lied and its a Vonage ATA.

I am locked in for a year with another Voip service provider so the simple switch over to Vonage thing will not work Sad.

Can some one please Get me the unlock password for my ata 186.

My Mac Address for the unit is 000D28383A17

The guy refuses to budge or give my money back i dont really have much money to spare to buy another one.

I know this dirt balls name is William and i know his last name but i will not post it here.

I tried calling Vonage and After spend a total of 3 hours on hold with about 6 differnt calls i gave up trying to get help with people from india Sad

You are out of luck. You will never find an "unlock code".

Does an unlocking the device mean clear the NVRAM? If it doesn't is there a way to clear the NVRAM and put a unit back into factory default. This is for a RT as well as a PAP

Im a bit confused, is it a Vonage ATA, if so, do you want to use Vonage? If so, you may just need to correctly configure it where to point to, etc etc, and if its a valid MAC address indeed, or else it would have to be added to our databast. Let me know.

I have a document on the ATA, but I think it is only on how to reset the device; not unlock.

Also, how do you plan to use a Vonage device with another Voip.

P.S Don't by crap off e-Bay. It is full of swindlers and cheats.

We can unlock your ATA, however we do charge a fee, i believe its 10 or 15 dollars.

You should be a techie to do the following:

connect it to a PC where you have a tftp server and load your own config file with your password.

You can find the details on the web. But if you're not a techie just pay the fee and have somebody provide you with the tftp server that you'll enter in your ATA and boot from.

Drop me a msg if you're out of luck.

So it turns to be a little harder than tftp. Need to read the prom and stuff like that. A security flaw exists in some versions that makes it easy to intercept the passwd via the web interface.
