You are out of luck. You will never find an "unlock code".

there is an unlock code and people have dont it before though

We can unlock your ATA, however we do charge a fee, i believe its 10 or 15 dollars.

HI,

I've been trying to get mine unlocked for few days now, but looks like a neverending saga. Spent at least 5 hours on hold w/ Vonage, i have a 10 emails long thread w/ Vonage CS, and still no luck.
Last i spoke they told me a change has been done on V's end and my ATA should be unlocked within 10 minutes. They also forwarded me a pdf explaining how to restore it to factory defaults after unlock.
However, 2 days have passed since last speaking with them and no luck.
Is there anything you can help with?
I will pay the req'd fee if necessary.

Thanks,
Luca

I too wish I could find a way to unlock my ATA 186

My MAC is 000AB7447BA7

I cancelled my service with Vonage a long time ago (signed up originally in 2002. I'd love to be able to play with my adapter, but alas I can't.

I don't think they'll unlock it for me either since I'm no longer a customer. Any ideas?

That's the point of locking devices..

stevefazek was willing to send me his so I can experiment with.
I'm no electric engineer but reading and writing addresses on the eprom is the solution.
It looks like there's a bug in the protection of the passwd thru the web interface up till a recent version of firmware.
Unfortunately I don't know the algorithm they used to create the password using MAC addresses.

After finally getting the right department to handle the unlock, they charged me the 15$ fee, and the device is still locked. Called their clueless Service department down in Bangalore 3 times today spoke with 3 different people, spent probably 4 hours total and still no luck. They finally told me today at 2pm EST that they escalated to their NetEng dep, who will fix it within an hour. Well, guess what?
Still nothing.
So i guess tomorrow I will spend another couple hours with them on the phone. God, how can they expect someone to give good feedback on such a service??

Thanks for nothing V,
Luca.

It was intersting that I called Vonage and offered to pay for the unlock password. I was informed that Vonage did not use the Cisco ATA186 and wouldn't be able to help me. The "click" went the phone.

The Cisco ATA-186 was a few versions ago, so I guess any info that Vonage would have, has been misplaced, or forgotten.

The fact that the ata-186 was a few versions ago would not excuse the rudeness of tech support.

I am curious why anyone would want to buy a Voip Adapter on eBay? Vonage sells their PAP2 adapters for essentially no money if you buy it retail, since the rebate is for purchase price of the PAP2. And, if you get the adapter from Vonage online, it is for free

There seems to be no point to buy an adapter through some third party. As far as getting ripped off on eBay, you ar able to file a complaint through eBay's Safe Harbor.

Because some people purchase these to use with business or home setups that use Voip, like with Asterisk.

Im a bit confused, is it a Vonage ATA, if so, do you want to use Vonage? If so, you may just need to correctly configure it where to point to, etc etc, and if its a valid MAC address indeed, or else it would have to be added to our databast. Let me know.

I have long been under the impression that any device not already in Vonage's database would not be added. I have a VT1055V that I bought as a spare and Vonage flat out refused to activate it even though it had never been used. Is this no longer the case?
