Greetings! I am sooo sick of regular phone companies - I am ready to make the jump to Voip. But, what is the actual cost? I have local service from a provider for 29.95 but they then add $15! worth of 'approved' taxes, fees, add-ons, etc. Too much for too little.
So, if I sign up for Voip from vonage... say 14.99, how much gets added to that bill?
Thanks |

My $24.99 monthly gets billed at $27.24, so it isn't nearly as bad as the POTS surcharges and taxes. Yet. |

I too am paying $27.24 for their $24.99 adverised unlimited package.
At the same time, $2.28 in taxes and fees is better than the close to $25 a month I used to pay to fund stupid crap like E-911 which is state owned to begin with.
But beware, 411 is a buck a call. I don't use it but the SO hasn't tumbled to the fact that www.superpages.com is free. |

Unfortunatly I use Earthlink. Why unfortunate, is because I dont get all the features of Vonage (Even tho it is a Vonage distributor) The prices are not the same. I have a regional Plan. The Unlimited All is $29.95 instead of the $24.95. The regional plan is $24.95.
But you get the idea of the costs.

Look at how long I have been a member. Several years.
I have the 14.99 plan, and have NEVER gone over that limit. However, I do have the 1 866 # and that has run the bill up considerably, especially if I have over 100 minutes of toll free calls per month.
Also, I often call England @ $.03 per minute. Last month's bill was the highest ever, $42.00. But I don't have many complaints in the rate dept.
I paid Verizon an average of $75.00 per month to get less than I have with Vonage.
Hassles? Yes. Overall though you will get more bang for the buck with Vonage |

If you go to vonage.com and from the main screen click on one of the calling plans you will see "Start Up Calculator" on the right hand side of the screen.
Answer the questions and it will tell you exactly how much you will pay monthly unless you go over minutes or make international or directory assistance calls. |

I also have the 14.99 plan plus the (866) toll free #. If you own a cell phone you got to love going over your bucket here! On the 866 # you get 100 minutes for $5 bucks. Run over and your charged a tad less then a nickle a min. Thats $5.00 a hundred!
On the mail number it's $15 for 500 minutes and about $.03 cents a minute after that. If you consistently talk over 800 minutes a month you can upgrade it. Life is good Now if only my neighbors could call me without using long distance... But that's another story. Trying Vonage is not a major investment. Jump in. |
